Power Up!

Image
Power Up! Marriage is easy, said no one ever… If you are like me, you would see marriage as the height of adulting, the most responsible thing you could have done with your life… Here I was, about to type a post about how great my marriage is when reality struck me on the head and I quickly realised that there is no such thing as the perfect marriage. This reality was Japheth upset with me for not making a cup of tea after asking for it 3 times already! 🤦  In my defence I was waiting for the kettle to boil, how was I to know the kettle was unplugged! 🤷 #ThatsHowTheFightStarted … Hmmpf perfect marriage, what was I thinking! Sorry to burst your bubble guys, truth be told, I’m nowhere near being part of a dynamic duo who you could consider relationship goals. I am totally struggling to keep my own dreams and aspirations alive; I can’t take on yours too… 😋 There are many ideas of what a good marriage is and aren’t we all tiresomely trying to portray a pretty picture p...

Illumination

Image
Illumination A few nights ago, I was disturbed from my sleep… When I opened my eyes, I found that complete darkness greeted me. Naturally I looked towards our bedroom window and was surprised that there was just a teeny tiny bit of light shining through the curtains. It then occurred to me there was a power failure and the entire neighbourhood had no lights on, at that point I was so thankful for that tiny bit of light which came into the room… This light came purely from the moon and stars shining in the night sky.   (Like seriously, I’m sure that when God created the night skies, He thought of me and added a few extra stars for good measure. He totally knew I would never survive being in a dark world!) Now normally, when the power goes out I will either get the rechargeable light or switch on my phone’s torch until the power returned. But I found myself not wanting to disturb the entire household to get the light or to switch on my torch as my phone battery was almost ...

Take it to God.

Image
Take it to God. Have you been battling with people speaking against you? Mocking you? Belittling and gossiping about you? Or are you on the other end of things? Do you spend a lot of your life worrying about other people’s lives and are constantly engaged in gossip and passing stories around? If that is you, then this message is for you. But you know what? This message is for me too because I am afraid to say this. But we all go through this, and we all do this too! So, grab yourself some coffee, we got some learning to do. SO, WHAT'S THIS MESSAGE ABOUT? IT'S A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE ON THE IMPACT OF NEGATIVE WORDS SPOKEN AND RECEIVED So today, I want to highlight  this portion of scripture which has been popping up everywhere I look. God has been speaking, and in turn, I did some reading and scribbled some thoughts down. This portion of scripture deals with the seriousness of negative words spoken about you and the greater, deeper impact it causes to the person who ...

LiveCalled…What does it mean?

Image
LiveCalled…What does it mean? So what does LiveCalled mean and where does it come from? Well, if you are privileged enough to have my WhatsApp number 😀 then you would be familiar with my status that I have not changed for years. I have had the same status since I opened my WhatsApp account several years ago. It simply says, ‘ Live Called’ . To be honest with you, I cannot remember who to even give credit to for this status, it possibly was a random post which popped up somewhere on one of my social media feeds. I was certainly drawn to these words, and kept them close to my heart, firmly cementing it as my go-to status.  When I researched ‘ Live Called’ I found that the bible speaks about it in the book of Ephesians,  As a prisoner of the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.'  Ephesians 4:1 (NIV) Paul, wrote this portion of scripture whilst in prison. He reminds us that the life we lead, must be shown worthy of th...

Becoming Me

Image
Becoming Me 25 years ago, I left my childhood home heartbroken. I left behind all that I knew, a lifetime of happy memories, a great childhood and countless friendships. My mum packed up our whole life neatly into a truck and we moved across the province to a much smaller town than the one I grew up in.   Mum & Me - 1987 This new small town was close to the coast. It promised my 2 sisters and myself a whole lotta new opportunities and incredible possibilities (or so my Dad said). The place was deemed a clean slate, a new foundation to build a great and successful life. All I found was a hot, lonely and boring town. A town completely empty of any of the incredible family and friends I often surrounded myself with. I was lost and far, far away from home. Now, let me be honest with you, there was nothing wrong with this new town. It was all that I mentioned it to be and in fact it proved to be more than that. The problem was with me, I was a rebellious teen, who was too...
