Just call me Friend!

Image
JUST CALL ME FRIEND! God talked to Moses on several occasions, the Bible says in Exodus 33:11 'God spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.' This goes to show that God revealed himself to Moses, in a way which was rarely shown to any other. Not only in a physical way but on a personal level. God spoke to Moses with love and kindness, they shared a relationship usually seen between close and dear friends. The 'face to face' is strange considering that no one was actually allowed to see God's face. But what Exodus 33:11 is referring to is the close knit relationship or friendship between Moses and God. That they could speak so freely to each other. God showed Moses a side to Him that was really not seen by anyone else. God spoke to Moses not as a dominant to a servant, or as a King to his subjects, but as a person who would freely chat to his friend. A clear and open one on one with a friend who He loves, His confidant and personal adviser. I'...

What About Judas?

Image
What About Judas? Recently, I watched a reel and one sentence of that 30 second video had my mind in a tizz. After watching it, I couldn't believe what I heard and I couldn't stop pondering if maybe I got things wrong ( 🤨 Eish, that sounds like whatever I believe is rather flimsy if a few seconds of an Instagram reel can turn my views upside down. #ragebait) But yes, a 30 second clip got me thinking, it got me questioning things and it got me frustrated at how easily people can be deceived. As I aimlessly scrolled through my Instagram feed, I came across this video that said, “What if? What if Judas was walking in the will of God?” to say shock and disbelief overcame me, was an understatement. I was utterly flabbergasted. I mean, was I the drama? (As the cool kids now say…) but really, was I right to be taken aback or surprised by what I heard? Considering the huge platform from which these words were being repeated. What do you mean, big time Pastor that Judas was in...

When Critics Rise Up!

Image
WHEN CRITICS RISE UP! Since giving my heart to the Lord over 20 years ago, I have consistently served in some capacity or another in my local church. One thing I have learnt through these years of service is that facing criticism comes with the territory. For most of these years I would say I have somewhat been able to handle it. But recently I have been struggling, as the pressure has suddenly been turned up. So, I turned to God’s Word as I often do when I feel overwhelmed. And God taught me something so important about how to respond to criticism. And I want to share some of my thoughts with you: 1. Criticism Often Comes in Seasons of Transition Critics pop up in certain seasons of your life. Resentment, which is hidden, and longstanding usually rears its head when a change to your life situation triggers it. This kind of criticism could come from a deep-seated bitterness, unforgiveness, jealousy or even anger. 2. Discern the Source and Spirit Not all criticism is an attack. Somet...

LiveCalled…What does it mean?

LiveCalled…What does it mean? So what does LiveCalled mean and where does it come from? Well, if you are privileged enough to have my WhatsApp number 😀 then you would be familiar with my status that I have not changed for years. I have had the same status since I opened my WhatsApp account several years ago. It simply says, ‘ Live Called’ . To be honest with you, I cannot remember who to even give credit to for this status, it possibly was a random post which popped up somewhere on one of my social media feeds. I was certainly drawn to these words, and kept them close to my heart, firmly cementing it as my go-to status.  When I researched ‘ Live Called’ I found that the bible speaks about it in the book of Ephesians,  As a prisoner of the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.'  Ephesians 4:1 (NIV) Paul, wrote this portion of scripture whilst in prison. He reminds us that the life we lead, must be shown worthy of th...

Becoming Me

Image
Becoming Me 25 years ago, I left my childhood home heartbroken. I left behind all that I knew, a lifetime of happy memories, a great childhood and countless friendships. My mum packed up our whole life neatly into a truck and we moved across the province to a much smaller town than the one I grew up in.   Mum & Me - 1987 This new small town was close to the coast. It promised my 2 sisters and myself a whole lotta new opportunities and incredible possibilities (or so my Dad said). The place was deemed a clean slate, a new foundation to build a great and successful life. All I found was a hot, lonely and boring town. A town completely empty of any of the incredible family and friends I often surrounded myself with. I was lost and far, far away from home. Now, let me be honest with you, there was nothing wrong with this new town. It was all that I mentioned it to be and in fact it proved to be more than that. The problem was with me, I was a rebellious teen, who was too...
